Nitrogen in vehicle tyres

For many years nitrogen has been used to inflate tyres in racing cars, and even tyres on aircraft but what are the benefits of filling your customer vehicle tyres with nitrogen?


There is no doubt about it, Nitrogen inflation is becoming more common as customers demand the service and anybody dealing in tyres will need to consider meeting the demand. In addition, certain new vehicles are coming out of the factory with nitrogen in the tyres as standard, setting the tone for nitrogen filling to become the ‘norm’ in the future.

Two of the main benefits we see are:

• Slower rate of pressure loss - due to the increased size of the Nitrogen molecule in comparison to oxygen or standard air
• Less corrosion – because unlike air there is no moisture in pure nitrogen.

The fully-automatic NG90 provides fast, simple operation. Simply connect the hose up to the valve and set the required pressure, and then walk away and get on with another job. The NG90 will automatically purge the tyre and the switch to refill with nitrogen to the pressure selected.


The NG90-4 builds on the fully-automatic nature of the NG90, but offers the added advantage of inflating 4 tyres simultaneously. A larger receiver is included inside the cabinet to cater for the additional nitrogen required, whilst the overall size remains remarkably compact.
