Brand:

A decelerometer is an alternative/back-up brake tester, which is an essential piece of MOT Test equipment.

It’s mainly used to test 4×4 vehicles or, on occasions, if a Roller Brake Tester in an MOT Test Station is faulty, it can be used on any vehicle, including heavy trucks and buses to cars and vans. If you’ve been in the trade a while, you might know a decelerometer as a ‘Tapley’, or Tapley Brake Meter. It’s named after William Tapley – Creator of the Original Decelerometer. It needs no electrical connections and is portable; you take the Tapley Meter to the vehicle and the brake test is performed under driving conditions
