MOT Testing Facilities to remain operational as new rules introduced
The government has announced new changes and restrictions to the guidelines surrounding the ongoing pandemic. A lot of industries and businesses have been affected once again.
What do the recent changes mean for MOT garages?
At the moment, the new restrictions do not affect MOT garages.
Although the government put an MOT extension in place at the beginning or April, MOT testing has continued and been carried out safely, with everyone’s health in mind throughout the pandemic.
Due to the incredible work by garages across the UK over the past 7 months MOT service has continued without interruption.
There is no plan currently to introduce any further exemptions as demand for MOT testing continues to increase.
Setting the standard
The DVSA has been forthcoming & pro-active with COVID-19 guidelines since the beginning of the year.
The DVSA previously outlined advice for MOT testers about operating safely during coronavirus, ensuring every garage could conduct MOT tests safely without risk to anyone (customer, employee or garage owner).
It is vital that you and your customers also follow government recommendations:
HANDS - Wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds.
FACE - Cover your face in enclosed spaces, especially where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
SPACE - Stay 2 metres apart where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place.
Other considerations?
Have you looked into NHS COVID-19 track & trace? This nationally used standard means a QR code in your garage can be scanned by all customers. It helps protect both your business & the surrounding area by using a single system.
