The Best Reason to Buy a New Balco Wheel Balancer… Is an Old One!

Old balco machine

When it comes to investing in new workshop equipment, reliability is always high on the list of priorities. After all, no one wants to replace their machinery every few years. That's why, when a customer in North West London enquired about a new wheel balancer, we knew we had the perfect solution. But what made this enquiry even more interesting was the machine they were replacing—a Balco B940, which had been in service for an incredible 30 years!

A Legacy of Reliability
The customer had a very specific set of requirements: they wanted something compact, simple to use, handspin-operated, and above all, reliable. Their old Balco B940 had served them since 1995, and after three decades of continuous use, it was finally time for an upgrade.

When our Equipment Specialist arrived on-site, they were greeted by a true piece of Balco history. The Balco B940, manufactured in Ireland at the original factory before production moved to Italy in 1999, was still standing strong. While ownership of the Balco brand has changed over the years, the reputation for reliability remains unchanged.

Knowing that they could still purchase a Balco wheel balancer—from the very same people who had been part of the company back in 1995—gave the customer all the reassurance they needed to make their decision. Within days, they took delivery of a brand-new Velospin 1000 Handspin wheel balancer, the latest evolution of Balco's trusted design.

Why the Velospin 1000?
The Velospin 1000 Handspin is built on the same core values that made the Balco B940 such a workshop staple—reliability, simplicity, and efficiency.

However, with modern technology and improved features, it delivers even greater performance:

• Compact footprint – ideal for workshops where space is at a premium
• Automatic data entry – reducing user input for faster, more accurate balancing
• 12V (mobile) or 240V (workshop) operation – versatile for different working environments
• Low spin speed – eliminates Health & Safety concerns and reduces power consumption

For workshops looking for a cost-effective, space-saving solution without compromising on performance, the Velospin 1000 is the perfect choice.

A Piece of Balco History
As for the 1995 Balco B940? We couldn't bring ourselves to scrap it. Instead, we're planning to fully refurbish the machine and add it to our "Hall of Fame"—a testament to the durability and reliability that Balco has always stood for.

Time for an Upgrade?
If your workshop is due for a new wheel balancer, why not choose a brand with a proven track record? Whether you need a compact handspin model or a more advanced machine, Balco continues to deliver quality equipment that stands the test of time.
